Director, Public Affairs

TDS Public Affairs is seeking an experienced Public Affairs Director to join our team. The ideal candidate is a strong writer with significant communications experience in government affairs, campaign, journalism or similar political environments. The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to quickly grasp subject material and offer clients sound strategic insights to aid them in navigating challenging public policy, corporate and reputational issues.  Beyond insights, the candidate must be able to manage and work well within a team to meet tight deadlines on multiples subjects and execute dynamic, impactful campaigns that deliver results.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Build strong relationship with clients as project leader on key accounts
  • Implement comprehensive, integrated strategic communications, public affairs and coalition engagement activities.
  • Develop, draft or edit strategic content supporting clients’ objectives.
  • Drive growth with existing clients and identify new business opportunities
  • Work alongside a collaborative team of dedicated professionals


  • Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Campaign Management or related political experience is preferred.
  • 5+ years political communications or related experience
  • Strong writing and communications skills including the ability to develop communications strategy and write content.
  • Established media contacts and the ability to develop and nurture new ones.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and client relationships
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Technology savvy
